HISTORY
Wood Trucking Corporation was started in 1971 by husband and wife, Bob and Linda Wood. It was a small operation that screened and delivered loam for small backyard jobs.
Wood Trucking is in the business of recycling. When Bob Wood saw that people were having problems getting rid of broken concrete he saw an opportunity. A job that started out as one operator has grown into a 6 man operation and some of the best equipment available.
Wood Trucking’s reputation is built on giving customers the product that they want. We have had some of the same customers since day one, but our customer base has grown significantly in the last 5-10 years. Woody attributes his growth to not only having a quality product but to providing customers with exceptional service. Here at Wood Trucking we make a commitment to customer satisfaction and trust “We ask for 24 hour notice on orders, but if a customer needs a load right away, we’ll juggle our trucks to take care of it” said Woody.
TODAY
Wood Trucking is a full service operation. You can purchase materials for pick up or delivery and drop off broken asphalt, leaves and grass at the company’s 8 acre facility located at 25 Farm Ave Peabody. Bob Wood, owner, describes his territory as basically the North Shore area, about a 20 mile radius. The word around the North Shore area near Boston is that Bob Wood, known by many as “Woody” has the best product around. If you are on the North Shore and looking for a concrete base layer Wood Trucking has you covered with its own in house “Woody-pac.”
Today, contractors, municipalities, landscapers and nurseries in the Northshore area turn to Wood Trucking for the same quality product but on a much larger scale. Wood’s product line not only includes loam, but also sand, stone, Woody Pac, mulch in the spring and salt in the winter. Woody’s loyalty not only extends to his customers but also to his suppliers and vendors.
One of our longest relations has been with C.N. Wood. When it comes to equipment Woody prefers to use Komatsu machines over other brands. C.N. Wood has provided Wood with exceptional personal service over the years. We have partnered with C.N. Wood because they are our good friends. There are over 13 pieces of Komatsu equipment in working order at Wood Trucking, including (2) WA 500 LOADER, (4) WA 470 LOADERS AND (3) PC290 LC HYDRAULIC EXCAVATORS.
Our Corporate headquarters located at 13 Lakeland Park Drive houses our administrative offices, service garage and vehicle inspection station. Our mechanics are trained in all aspects of commercial vehicle repairs. Our 30 truck fleet is maintained by our trusted service professionals to the highest standards and kept in MassDOT compliance, through exhaustive inspections and maintenance.
TOMORROW
While Bob has no plans to retire anytime soon, Bob’s son Jon Sr. and his grandchildren Jon Jr., Madison and Patrick are all employed at Wood Trucking. You can find Jon Sr. managing the yard, Patrick in a Komatsu, Jon Jr. driving a truck or doing inspection stickers and Madison at the office in the daily operations. It really is a family affair.
FARM
Started by Bob and his wife, Linda, we have a gentleman’s farm located on our property at 278 Forest Street. Currently, we have a fine collection of animals that include goats, horses, emus, chickens, ducks, peacocks and sheep. Many locals find this farm a great place to stop with their young children and grandchildren. Feel free to stop and see the farm on your next visit.
